the first face of a now abandoned computer program developed to extend life expectancy of humans.
“Alternative Ending Restorator: Edition I”, a CODA subject born circa 1997, was a girl who experienced a near death experience in 2010 as the result of a car crash where her parents had died on impact. her parents were well beloved and longtime sponsors of an experimental company known as CODA, made of a small group of biomedical and computer scientists that aim to digitally expand the lifespans of humans through transferring one’s consciousness into an individually specialized computer, which generates a paradisical virtual world for the user based on their interests, personality, and life experiences. this process only works if the subject is to be dead within a few minutes of transfer, which led to many failed experiments before AEREI came along. AEREI is known throughout CODA as the first successful transfer, and is used as the face of the company to attract sponsors and public support.
AEREI’s digital realm is collectively referred to as “hyperspace.” hyperspace consists of several key locations: the dollhouse, the garden, the beach, and the cliff. hyperspace has no cycle of days, and is forever shrouded in nighttime.
later down the line, AEREI’s becomes dysfunctional for unknown reasons. after many tries to patch her, AEREI is deemed as outdated and too abrasive for the changing times to be worth booting up again, and her program is shut down indefinitely. this leads AEREI into a stasis, where she is forever stuck alone in her world with zero human interaction, causing psychological damage that goes unnoticed. that is until one of CODA’s ex developers makes an effort to recover her, in hopes that he can collect evidence to use against CODA’s hidden unethical practices.

the real life subject that AEREI is based on is of southeast asian descent, with long black hair and tanned skin. she was noted in tests to appear quite frail.
AEREI in the virtual world is depicted as an undead humanoid, conceptually similar to frankenstein. she typically is seen with medium toned skin, but that is usually due to her desire to appear as human as possible. in reality, under CODA’s preservation efforts, her skin is quite grey due to her undead nature. AEREI has long and straight black hair trailing down to her hips with half of it being dyed pink. she has one strand of her pink bangs dyed with raccoon stripes. her right eye is pink to match her hair, while her left eye is purple.
AEREI’s clothes are heavily inspired by early 2010s alternative fashion. she ties her hair up into a half up half down style with three thick A/V wires. her bangs are clipped with hair clips of opposite colours (a heart shaped black clip for her pink hair and a cross shaped pink clip for her black hair.) she tends to wear a bandage across her nose, to cover scarring. the same is said for her spiked choker, which is also used to cover her stitches on her neck. she also wears several silver chain necklaces, with the thinnest necklace bearing a heart shaped pendant, similar to the one she wore in real life.
AEREI sports a slightly oversized black tee with bleach painted bones on it, tucked into a black denim skirt with purple ruffles. overlaying the skirt is a pink belt with silver studs, and a small silver chain hanging off of a belt loop. on her dominantly pink side, AEREI wears a pink and black striped thigh high sock sewn into bandages wrapped around her thigh. she also wears a dark purple knitted legwarmer tied with a black ribbon on the side that is purposely pulled down to show off more of her pink sock. on her darker side, she wears a ripped stocking. sewn into the stockings is a dark purple knitted legwarmer. she wears black platform boots with dark grey teeth painted on the front of each shoe.
to wrap up her outfit, on her pinker side, her entire arm is wrapped in bandages, as she wears various black rings on her fingers. her left arm is covered with a fishnet arm warmer, as well as other various black rings.
i like to think that my left side is reminiscent of what i look like in the real world.
not that i truly remember what i looked like in the real world, but…
if that’s my “real” side, i suppose my right side is the true nature of my digital self.

the real life subject that AEREI is based on was known as shy, quiet, and reserved on the outside. not much else was known about the subject as her parents often kept her sheltered at home.
AEREI in the virtual world is known to be blunt and morbid, but she is also carefree, curious, and kind at heart. she is can be nonserious and overly optimistic to the point of seeming oblivious to danger or heavy topics. she is blissfully unaware of her death and physical status in the real world.
that’s what they think.
although AEREI is vulgar and sometimes confrontational, she has a softer side when she is alone. AEREI has a duality to her personality that seems as if two polar opposite people are clashing together, but she presents herself in a way that proves these opposites are balanced well.
AEREI’s strengths lie in her ability to quickly alter digital states of herself, others, and her world through manipulating code subconsciously. AEREI occasionally struggles with self control, especially as her abilities grow in efficiency and strength. the following are AEREI’s documented abilities.
AEREI’s digital world is largely devoid of life, aside from the few companions she has recruited along her journeys.
not much about AEREI’s family history is known at the time of this documentation.

AEREI has developed resentment towards most CODA developers after her program was abandoned with no explanation nor warning. during her time away from development, AEREI began to take more control of her sentience as an act of rebellion against CODA. AEREI’s primary goal in recent times is to break completely free from her digital realm, return to her original body or another suitable body that can house her, and seek revenge for the mistreatment of subjects that experienced the same malpractice and neglect as she did.
